ICAI honours Stellar CAs at 15th Annual Awards Ceremony

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducted Leadership Summit, 2022 & 15th ICAI Awards on February 2, 2022 at New Delhi to recognise the stellar performances of Chartered Accountants across the sectors. The Awards were given through the august hands of Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications Shri Devusinh Chauhan under 9 categories ranging from CA young Leader to CA Business Leader to Global Achievers category.

ICAI had instituted ‘ICAI Annual Awards’ in the year 2007 to acknowledge the exemplary achievements of its members who have delivered outstanding performance in their professional life and are committed towards their goals.

The occasion was graced by the awardees and members of Governing Council of ICAI including CA. Nihar N. Jambusaria, President, ICAI; CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, Vice President, ICAI; CA. Hans Raj Chugh, Chairman and CA. Durgesh Kabra, Vice-Chairman, Committee for Members in Industry & Business. The Hon’ble Minister, while giving the awards, congratulated the awardees on their exemplary performance and also complimented the ICAI for recognising the achievers. The Hon’ble Minister, among others, said the economy is expected to grow at a rate of 8-8.5% during the current year and the country would roll out 5G soon. The ICAI has a long history of serving the economy almost parallel to the time when India got independence and hence, ICAI would celebrate its centenary function close to centenary celebration by the country, he added.

In his address President, ICAI, said "the Awardees are the Gem of the profession and he also spoke about sustainability, carbon emission and emphasised on the need to balance profit, people and planet".

The ICAI Awards were given under various categories such as Business Leaders, CFOs, CXOs, Entrepreneurs, Educators, global achievers, achievers in public service and CA. Keki M Mistry, Vice Chairman & CEO, HDFC Ltd. was honoured with Hall of Fame Award, while CA. Rajesh Sharma, Member, NCLT, Mumbai Bench was given CA in Public Service Award. Several other CEOs, CFOs, CXOs, global achievers, rising entrepreneurs, educators and young members were also honoured felicitating a total of 30 awardees out of total 177 nominations filed. Earlier, these awards were finalised at a Jury Meet held under the Chairmanship of CA. Premchand Godha, CMD, IPCA Laboratories on 21st January, 2022 in Mumbai. The ICAI awards are the most prestigious awards and are the most sought after by the Chartered Accountants as the awardees are recognised by its alma mater.

Earlier during the day, a Leadership Summit was organised wherein several notable personalities addressed the Chartered Accountants on varied subjects. The Chief Guest, CA. Mahendra Singhi, MD & CEO, Dalmia Cement Bharat Ltd. presided over the function. The Summit provided a platform for thought-provoking discussions on pertinent new age topics relevant to the CA Profession in which industry experts, thought leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals participated.
