The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), a statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 to regulate the profession of Chartered Accountancy is the second largest and prominent accounting body in the world. It has been taking various proactive measures from time to time, aligned with the changing facets of the Indian economy, for continuously raising the standard of quality of accounting and financial reporting.

ICAI shall be entering its Platinum Jubilee Year on July 1st, 2018 during which it will showcase before the world the proud moments of the profession, milestones crossed, achievements in present and growing potential of the profession in future. It is truly an occasion to Celebrate the Past and Inspire the Future and to demonstrate how the profession will be of continual value to stakeholders

To mark this proud occasion, a function is being organized by the Institute on July 1st at New Delhi. On the propitious occasion, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Hon’ble President of India will be launching the ICAI Platinum Jubilee Celebrations at New Delhi. The event shall also be graced by Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (I/C) for Communications and Minister of State for Railways and Shri P. P. Chaudhary, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, & Minister of State for Law and Justice. On this occasion, a “Commemorative Postal Stamp” shall also be launched, celebrating the 70th year of ICAI in service of nation.

Since its inception in 1949, the accountancy profession continues to play a strategic role in providing value added services to the stakeholders and takes key leadership roles to guide their organizations as creators, enablers, preservers and reporters of sustainable value through the process of embedding sustainability deep within an economy.

About ICAI

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament viz., The Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 in the year 1949 for regulating the profession of Chartered Accountants in the country. The Institute functions under the administrative control of Ministry of Corporate Affairs and has five Regional Councils and 164 branches covering the length and breadth of the country. In addition, it has also set up 31 chapters outside India.

The main functions of the Institute are prescribing qualifications for membership, holding examination and arranging practical training of candidates, enrolment of members, publication and maintenance of register of members qualified to practice the profession, carrying on activities for development of the profession and regulation and maintenance of status and standard of professional qualification of the members.
